Club Med announces new Japanese ski resort

Club Med is celebrating the opening of its newest Japan resort, Club Med Kiroro, just in time for ski season.

Opening on 15 December 2022, Club Med Kiroro Peak is set to offer incredible snow experiences in the famed Hokkaido prefecture, with access to long ski seasons into early May.

From today and for a limited time, Club Med is offering a 7-night stay from AUD $2734 per adult (save $1166) with discounts applied on travel dates from 15 December 2022 to 30 April 2023.

Club Med Kiroro will be a takeover and combination of two existing properties to create one integrated snow resort, each with distinctive buildings located a three-minute buggy ride or a short gondola ride apart. The resort will open in two phases, with Club Med Kiroro Peak opening this December followed by Club Med Kiroro Grand in 2023. When both are open, Club Med Kiroro will offer close to 400 guest rooms during the peak winter season.

“As we continue to invest and grow in our ski leadership with the goal of doubling our mountain capacity in Asia by 2023, we are excited to include another property in Japan yet keeping it distinctive from others,” Henri Giscard d’Estaing, president of Club Med said.

“With the resort’s accessibility, panoramic mountain views, quality powder snow in the winter and close to travel hotspots like Otaru coastal town, there are endless opportunities to create a constant stream of activities all year round.

“This addition to our ever-growing portfolio will allow guests to discover another side of Hokkaido in the heart of the untouched Kiroro domain.

Located 90-minute drive away from the New Chitose Airport and easily accessible by train to Otaru Chikko Station, the ski-in-ski-out resort offers snow enthusiasts direct access to an untouched domain with 23 courses for all levels and pristine off-piste ski slopes, providing avid skiers with an backcountry exploration across both the Asari and Nagamine mountains. Facilities at the resort will include a natural onsen, saunas, nature centres, an indoor resort pool with a dedicated kids zone and an in-house public bath.

The oriental design of the resort sets the stage for a gallery-like experience featuring local arts and crafts, such as Otaru glass. Guests can also savour sake from local breweries and learn about artisanal brewing processes.

Club Med Kiroro Peak has a minimum age access of 12 years old while Club Med Kiroro Grand houses a wide host of family-oriented activities and facilities suitable for all ages.

Alongside its new Japanese resort, Club Med has also announced its Early Bird 2023 Sun Sale, offering up to 30 per cent on its Sun resorts for travel dates between 1 May – 16 December 2023. Agents can log into the new Club Med Travel Agent Portal to secure the brand’s best price guarantee on its Sun resorts across The Mediterranean, The Caribbean, The Indian Ocean and Asia.

Travel agents who took advantage of Club Med’s two-week preview of the sale on its portal can now access their saved proposals to book instantly, ensuring their clients are first in line to receive their preferred dates and rooms at the best price.
