Air Canada to leave agent pay unchanged as Aussie routes kick off

As travel across the Pacific kicks off, representatives from Air Canada (AC) came to Sydney for a media lunch where VP of international sales, Virgilio Russi, confirmed the airline will not change agent commission.

Russi was joined by AC’s director of sales APAC, Kiyo Weiss, and the airline’s ANZ general manager Vic Naughton. Russi and Weiss are in Australia this week for a series of events to celebrate the recommencement of flights between Brisbane and Vancouver on 3 July.

Russi said that Australia is one of the airline’s top-performing markets in terms of how quickly it is recovering and there’s strong demand for seats in both premium and economy cabins.

The airline is operating Sydney-Vancouver flights 10 times per week, as Brisbane flights will begin to operate four times weekly, with the airline planning on boosting this to 5 times per week in December. The airline plans on operating daily Brisbane flights as soon as possible.

Air Canada has launched 34 new and pre-existing routes this year, and the airline plans on relaunching the Auckland-Vancouver on 12 November.

The representatives from the airline said demand has been amazing as international travel has relaunched.
