WATCH: pilot pulled from crash seconds before train smashes through plane

Footage has emerged of the moment LA police officers rescued a pilot who had crash-landed just seconds before his aircraft was hit by a train.

We know there’s a lot going on in that sentence, so let’s unpack this dramatic incident, shall we?

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) uploaded what appears to be bodycam footage to its Twitter on Monday that shows police officers rushing to free the bloodied pilot from a crashed aeroplane.

As the man comes free, an officer can be heard yelling “GO! GO! GO!” as they drag the man away from the wreck just in time.

“Foothill Division Officers displayed heroism and quick action by saving the life of a pilot who made an emergency landing on the railroad tracks at San Fernando Rd. and Osborne St., just before an oncoming train collided with the aircraft,” the LAPD said in the tweet.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the single-engine Cessna crashed onto train tracks in Pacoima near Whiteman airport on Sunday afternoon local time.

Officers managed to free the pilot, described as a man in his 70s by police, seconds before a Metrolink train hit the wrecked aeroplane.

The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing after the plane lost power, LAPD Valley Bureau said in a tweet.

The man was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition, with no other injuries reported, according to the LA Times.
