Club Med opens first Canada property, reveals plans for new Utah ski resort

It’s a big day for Club Med, with the all-inclusive resort giant opening the doors of its first property in Canada and revealing plans for a new ski resort in Utah.

Located north of the city of Québec, Club Med Québec Charlevoix features a waterfront panorama in a preserved natural landscape, designed by Lemay Michaud as a nod to a Quebec quilt: an amalgam of colours, textures and shapes inspired by the four seasons that characterise the province.

Each of the 302 superior, deluxe and suite rooms have been designed to echo the exterior beauty and character of the region. For an extra special experience, the Exclusive Collection Space, Le Saint-Laurent features 25 suites with incredible views, exclusive amenities, and premium services.

“Canada has long been a favourite destination for Australians, and we are honoured to be able to bring Club Med’s legacy as the worldwide leader in all-inclusive holidays to the exceptional Charlevoix region,” Michelle Davies, Club Med’s regional general manager said.

“We are excited to finally open our doors to guests to experience Canada like never before.”

The resort is child friendly, with services for children of every age, including sharing a tea-time feast, attending a parent-child yoga lesson and ski classes for kids as young as four.

Guests can also partake in Nordic walking, ice-skating, indoor pool access, fitness classes, cardio and weight room access, yoga and meditation, dogsledding, snowmobiling, ice-fishing and ice-canoeing, as well as the resort’s wellness spaces including a 23m long heated pool, the biggest pool in a Club Med mountain resort, boasting a magnificent view of the St. Lawrence River.

In terms of food and beverage offerings, main restaurant or Le Chalet, features a specialty restaurant, lounge bar, wine cellar and gourmet market. The main bar evolves throughout the day, from a daytime lounge to an evening entertainment centre, hosting shows and parties. For families, Terroir & Co offers parents and kids the chance to prepare and share a meal together, including participative fondues and raclettes with local Quebec cheeses and charcuteries.

During the inauguration ceremony of Club Med Québec, the brand’s president and CEO, Henri Giscard D’Estaing, announced Club Med’s expansion to Utah with the addition of a new property at Snowbasin Resort in Huntsville Utah, slated to open in December 2024.

This opening will mark the brand’s first-ever Exclusive Collection (5-Star) resort in the US as well as their first new resort in the US in more than 20 years.

“Our pioneering spirit has allowed us to successfully introduce our distinctive all-inclusive model to ski destinations worldwide and reshape what a traditional ski vacation looks like,” Giscard d’Estaing said.

“Our first resort in Canada, Club Med Québec, delivers an unparalleled year-round mountain vacation experience through boundless cultural touchpoints that pay homage to the region, and we look forward to working alongside our partners to showcase Le Massif de Charlevoix’s incredible culture, warm spirit, and remarkable landscape.

“Looking ahead, we are delighted to bring Snowbasin their very first lodging property and introduce the spectacular region to travellers from all over the world.”

Snowbasin Summer Mountain

Located 35 miles from Salt Lake City, Snowbasin Resort is one of the most accessible and oldest operating ski resorts in North America and will be home to Club Med’s first Exclusive Collection (5-Star) resort in the US, joining a selection of Club Med’s most exclusive five-star properties around the world.

With direct ski-in/ski-out access to surrounding slopes, Club Med Utah will be designed to appeal to every type of traveller, including families, couples, and meetings and events groups.

Accommodations will include spacious 2-bedroom deluxe rooms and family suites, while private penthouse suites will be available for those seeking added luxury.

During the warmer months, guests can explore more than 3,000 acres of surrounding mountains and valleys through guided activities like hiking programs, mountain biking and Club Med’s trademark circus activities.

Agents can secure the best price of up to 30 per cent off Club Med Quebec Charlevoix for clients who wish to experience a whimsical winter holiday in Canada.
