Cupitt’s Estate snags gold at the 2021 Independent Beer Awards

The team at Cupitt’s Estate won three medals at Australia’s Independent Beer Awards (The Indies) including a gold.

The NSW south coast boutique secured a gold for their Milton Pilsner, a silver for the Hazy Pale Ale and a bronze for the 2021 Imperial Stout at The Indies.

Head brewer at Cupitt’s Estate, Liam Jackson (featured image), was thrilled about the wins, congratulating the hardworking staff for their efforts.

“We’ve been under the pump in our brewery to keep the beer flowing coming into summer, so it came as a fantastic surprise to see our beers do so well,” he said.

“The quality overall of craft beer in Australia has continued to improve, year on year, and continues to do so, which makes these medals feel all the more rewarding that we are keeping up with the best of them.

“I am also proud of the variety of beers that we received medals for. We are not a “one-trick brewery” – whatever beer we make, we strive for excellence, which really is what we aim for across the board at Cupitt’s Estate.

“We pride ourselves on producing consistently excellent beer, so it’s a real honour to receive these awards, and we think reflective of our dedication to the craft.”

Jackson was particularly happy about the gold medal win for the Milton Pilsner in the lager category.

“We have been committed to producing beers that reflect the region that we are in. We are proud to have developed a style of Pilsner that is refreshing and crisp reflective of the lagers found in Germany,” he said.

The win for the pilsner comes after its placement last weekend in The Australian ‘Peter Lalor’s Top 20 Beers’ list.

A record 1389 beers from 180 breweries were entered at the Indies this year.

Due to COVID-related set backs, the awards were live-streamed and broadcasted from 10 official live cross parties around Australia and other taprooms and bars around the country.

Full results for the Indies can be found here.

Cupitt’s Estate beers can be purchased online or at the cellar door, which is open 7 days from 11am – 5pm.
