“Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy”: TikToker gets “stuck” overseas after booking flight for the wrong year

“Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy”: TikToker gets “stuck” overseas after booking flight for the wrong year

Arriving at the airport to find you’ve booked the wrong date is every traveller’s worst nightmare.

So, we can’t imagine how this TikTok user from the UK felt when she realised she was out by a while year.

A woman with the user name Lex posted to her TikTok account, @simp4beanz, showing her reaction to turning up for an early flight, only to find she was a year early.

“As if I’ve just got to the airport at 6am and my flight turns out to be booked for next year,” she said in the text accompanying the video.

“Good f****** night.”

In the video’s caption, Lex said Easyjet had “been doing me dirty man wtf”.

Since it was posted a week ago, the clip has been viewed four million times and amassed just under 800,000 likes and 9,464 comments.

Lex said she was holidaying in Croatia and was trying to fly to Italy when she realised she made the blunder.

“Girl, I thought you meant you was (sic) in England at the airport and just got the dates wrong I didn’t realise you was (sic) stuck in Croatia,” said a user named Sarah Elizabeth.

“Oh yeah no, I’m stuck stuck. Spent the last of my money on the taxi to the airport as well,” Lex responded.

The post also attracted a few cheeky comments from the TikTok community.

“At least now you’ve got your holidays planned for next year!” said Joe Santos.

“Have you considered swimming there?” asked Jag.

“A year? My dad actually recommends arriving two years early, just in case there’s a queue at security,” said EmmieMay.

Apparently, not everyone believed her though.

“This is real, this did happen to me,” she said in a follow-up video on Monday that showed a screengrab of her flight itinerary in the background.

“It [the itinerary]’s from May so for all those people who say I did this for clout… I don’t know, people are being f****** weird.”

The itinerary shows an Easyjet booking for a 9:10am flight from Zadar to Milan Malpensa on 4 August 2022.

Lex said she realised she had booked the wrong date when she couldn’t see her flight on the departures board.

“So I went to check my boarding pass, or what I thought was my boarding pass, turns out I hadn’t actually checked in, I just bought baggage and put my passport details in,” she said.

“My flight on this route had been cancelled twice already and they let me move it to like a day before or after from a different airport, but in 2021.

“Midway through that, I’m guessing they just cancelled all routes that year [2021] because the next available date was 4 August and I was like “great” but it was in 2022.”

Lex explained that the ticket was booked through her dad’s email address, so when she didn’t get any emails about her upcoming flight she assumed her dad had forgotten to pass them onto her.

She posted a comment to her original video and said Easyjet had refunded her ticket.

Luckily, she said she made it to Milan and is safe.

“It turned out ok in the end but that was so f****** stressful, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy,” she said.

Travel Weekly has contacted Easyjet for confirmation of Lex’s story, but is yet to receive a response.
