Globus and Cosmos break sales record with release of 2022 local trips

Kununurra is a town in far northern Western Australia located at the eastern extremity of the Kimberley approximately 45 kilometres from the border with the Northern Territory.

Globus and Cosmos launched their 2022 Australian and New Zealand trips last week, attracting the most sales either brand has seen since the start of the pandemic.

The touring programs, which were designed for local travellers, became available for booking last Wednesday and broke the two Globus Family of Brands (GFOB) companies’ COVID-19 sales records by Friday.

Contrasts of the Kimberley proved to be the most popular tour, selling 50 per cent of its available departures in just two days.

Naturally, New Zealand, Rugged Tasmania and Gems of the Red Centre also filled up quickly.

The brands released nine itineraries in Australia and four in New Zealand all up, with the major drawcard experiences of the Northern Territory, Queensland’s tropical islands, Tasmania, Western Australia and New Zealand curated into tours ranging from six to 14 days.

“Australians have recognised the benefits of touring in their own backyard, enjoying spectacular scenery and incredible food and wine while uncovering the best of each region – as told through the eyes of the locals they meet,” said Gai Tyrrell, managing director for Australasia at GFOB.

“To record such strong sales despite the current COVID-19 restrictions is so encouraging and a reminder of how much Australians are ready to get out and keep exploring their own backyard.”

The 2022 collection includes eight Cosmos itineraries and five by Globus, with one itinerary still to be announced.

To celebrate the launch, GFOB is offering five per cent off Cosmos and 10 per cent off Globus tours for all new bookings made by 30 September 2021.
