Tourism Accommodation Australia elects new chair for NSW

Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA) NSW has elected Richard Doyle as its new chair.

TAA NSW chief executive Michael Johnson said Doyle was elected at the final board meeting for 2020 after Antony Page stepped down from the role.

“Antony has done a great job during a difficult period,” Johnson said.

“He has left the board to relocate to Victoria, and we wish him every success with the opening of the new Ritz-Carlton in Melbourne in 2021.

Doyle is the group general counsel at StayWell Holdings, looking after its Australian and international legal requirements, as well as managing the company’s asset management functions and being a key team member of the group’s local and international development activities.

Since he joined StayWell in 2006, Doyle has helped grow the company’s initial small Australian-based portfolio into an international network of more than 35 hotels.

“Mr Doyle has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry and, at a time when we are recovering from our worst trading period in living memory, will be a great support for our board and myself,” Johnson said.

The vacant TAA NSW board position has been filled by Sally Burgess, general manager of Radisson Hotel and Suites Sydney.

“We welcome Sally Burgess to the TAA NSW board and all look forward to working with her in what is sure to be a tough 2021,” Johnson said.
