Korea Tourism Organization appoints new destination marketing agency, hosts agent event

Korea Tourism Organization’s (KTO’s) Sydney office has appointed Julie King & Associates to represent the destination in Australia and New Zealand.

The destination marketing agency will take on public relations, media, social and digital, events, marketing and some trade for the organisation.

KTO is looking to focus on educating the Australian and New Zealand market, which is increasing in importance, with Prime Minister Scott Morrison recently naming South Korea in a potential Asian travel ‘bubble’ candidate.

Commenting on the appointment, Julie King & Associates founder and CEO Julie King said: “We are thrilled to be working with KTO and we look forward to highlighting the depth of experiences available, from the natural, cultural and historic aspects of South Korea to the food and seasonal offerings.

“There is something that will appeal to all ages and demographics.”

Last week, KTO hosted an event at the Korean Cultural Centre, where Light Shadow: Koo Bohnchang, a photographic exhibition of Korean ceramics is currently on display.

Panellists included KTO’s Sydney director, Insook Lee; Korean Cultural Centre director Sojeong Park; SBS and ABC Asian pop presenter Andy Trieu; and Korean chef Heather Jeong; with Sarah Stevenson of Julie King & Associates acting as moderator.

The Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Sydney, Sangwoo Hong, opened the event, highlighting discussions around the South Korean travel bubble and noted 2021 being the 60th anniversary year of diplomatic ties between Australia and South Korea.
