Travel DAZE 2020 speaker spotlight: Mario Vargas, Promperu

Travel DAZE 2020 speaker spotlight: Mario Vargas, Promperu

With Travel DAZE less than two weeks away, it’s time to introduce another one of the stellar speakers lined up for this year’s event.

Mario Vargas is currently the trade commissioner to Australia and New Zealand representing Promperu, the government agency charged with the responsibility to ensure the growth of companies internationally and promote Peru as a tourism destination.

Vargas first joined Promperu in February 2014 as a trade commissioner to Israel, with the aim to expand the knowledge about sustainable tourism within the country.

He was head of the team responsible for leading new tourism experiences such as mountain biking, surfing in remote and unique beaches like Chicama, and rural community tourism in a wildlife environment.

Vargas’ role was extended to Promperu’s office in Moscow where gastronomy, cultural and natural experiences were the most important. In February 2018, he was appointed as the first trade commissioner of Peru after the PAFTA got into force in February of 2020.

Prior to joining Promperu, Vargas worked in a number of export industries such as agribusiness, alpaca garments, manufacturing home decor products, and travertine.

His vision is to get a 360-degree view of the tourism industry, with the aim to create job opportunities and promote local economies.

Vargas holds a Licentiate in Business Administration from Universidad de Lima, an MBA from Universidad del Pacifico, a degree in Negotiating and Intercultural studies at Harvard University, and one in Hofstede Insights from Finland.

Check out who else will be speaking alongside Vargas at Travel DAZE 2020 here.

The event (which will be the only travel industry event of its scale in Australia this year) will virtually bring together the best minds from within the travel sector, along with external experts, to foster its recovery from COVID-19.

Presented by the Italian National Tourist Board, Travel DAZE 2020 will explore what tangible steps business owners, travel agents, tour operators, marketers, and communication specialists can take toward rebuilding a sustainable and profitable future.

The conference will kick off on Monday 2 November and finish up on Friday 6 November, and the best part is that it’s absolutely FREE!

So, what are you waiting for? Click here to register, and be sure to visit the Travel DAZE website and keep an eye out for more stories regarding rego, speakers and session times.
