Targeted travel agent support most flagged issue in Joint Coalition Party Room meeting

Piggy bank with Face Mask, Financial crisis and market crash due to virus spread.

Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) members are continuing their push for targeted support, briefing 42 cabinet and shadow cabinet ministers.

AFTA’s National Mobilisation Campaign saw the plight of travel agents raised by four members of parliament at last week’s Joint Coalition Party Room, making it the most flagged issue of the meeting.

The association has also teamed up with News Corp to spread the word of the devastating impacts of the global pandemic on frontline travel agents in as many of its 120 local mastheads as possible.

“Having members meet with their local federal representatives and lay bare the reality of homes being on the line, and businesses that were thriving pre-COVID on the precipice, makes those conversations even more real,” AFTA chief executive Darren Rudd said.

“The News Corporation support brings those conversations out into the open, making it very real and further ramping up awareness of the desperate need for immediate action if these businesses and the 40,000 Australians who work in them are going to get the support they need and deserve.

“If you haven’t already contacted your local member of parliament, please do so as a matter of urgency. If you already have, contact them again and ask them for their continued support at this time when we need it most.

“Everything you need to do this is on the AFTA website.”
