American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) has spruced up its mobile platform, making it easier for travellers and managers to work on the go.

Amex GBT has boosted messaging capabilities and push-notifications on its ap as part of its mobile-first approach, giving the option to message with one of the company’s travel councillors in 24 countries.

The new push-notification feature is called Travel Program Notification, and it allows travel managers to send messages and tips to travellers based on their location.

Expansion to two-way conversations via push notifications is expected to be rolled out in the coming months.

Amex GBT’s chief commercial officer, Andrew Crawley, said: “Mobile and messaging channels have untapped potential to be a conduit between the travel manager, traveller and travel counsellor in today’s constantly changing travel information environment.

“COVID-19 has been a catalyst for the expansion of our messaging capabilities and platform. We are thinking differently about information as a service and want to help our clients support the needs of their travellers by being present in the channels they trust.”

Amex GBT recently launched its first Reconciliation Action Plan to provide a framework to embrace and support the national reconciliation movement.

The plan outlines Amex GBT’s promise to proactively seek to improve understanding, build long-term relationships and collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and peoples.
