Debra Fox departs ATG in big leadership shake-up

APT Travel Group (ATG) is in the process of a leadership shake-up to sustain its travel brands during this turbulent time.

The changes will see David Cox step into the new key role of CEO for ATG, where he will lead the group’s brands including APT, Travelmarvel, Captain’s Choice, Botanica and TravelGlo.

Cox has been with the ATG business for nearly 20 years, so this isn’t his first rodeo. The group said he is well-versed in both the business and the industry and holds strong relationships with the company’s travel partners.

A new management team will be formed at ATG, with a number of general manager roles filled by internal talent.

However, the new structure will also mean the removal of a number of chief roles including chief commercial officer, meaning Debra Fox (pictured above) to depart the group.

Chris Hall, managing director of ATG’s parent company, Australian Pacific Holdings, said: “These are difficult times to say the least. All of the industry is all too aware of this, and while I know we will survive, we need to take tough decisions to do so, and one of those is in regards to the structure of the business.”

“Deb is to be recognised, not only for her significant contribution as a senior leader within ATG, but also as a female leader in the travel industry.

“Her impact has been substantial both within ATG and across the industry. She is respected and admired and we sincerely thank her for all she has done and wish her the very best for the future.

“We are a resilient business and will recover; however, we are facing the biggest challenge in our 90-year history. These changes are being made to ensure we emerge from this period financially solid, retaining as many people as possible, and remain a trusted travel agent partner now and into the future.”
