Australia ranks second for most popular Zoom background destinations

Need a way to spice up your Zoom meetings, but aren’t ready to commit to becoming a potato yet?

Holiday-style Zoom backgrounds have soared in popularity, with Google Trends data showing a 9,900 per cent increase in searches and it turns out Australian scenery is the second most popular!

UK-based travel company Kuoni has crunched the numbers to find out where video call users are going on their ‘virtual holidays’, revealing the Caribbean as the top spot, followed by Australia, the Maldives, Vietnam, and New Zealand.

Here are the top 10:

1st: Caribbean (+9,900 per cent)

Equal 2nd: Australia and the Maldives (+9,800 per cent)

Equal 3rd: New Zealand, Vietnam and Sweden (+9,700 per cent)

4th: Philippines (+8,800 per cent)

Equal 5th: Brazil and Canada (8,500 per cent)

6th: USA (+8,100 per cent)

7th: Ireland (+7,200 per cent)

8th: India (+6,500 per cent)

9th: Portugal (+5,000 per cent)

10th: Spain (+4,900 per cent)

As for holiday types, safari was the most popular followed by mountain, cityscape, beach, and waterfall.

Here are the top 10 by landscape:

1st: Safari (+9,900 per cent)

2nd: Mountain (+9,800 per cent)

3rd: Cityscape (+8,100 per cent)

4th: Beach (+7,800 per cent)

5th: Waterfall (+6,600 per cent)

6th: Sea (+6,400 per cent)

7th: (Rainforest +5,000 per cent)

8th: Field (+4,000 per cent)

9th: Desert (+3,200 per cent)

10th: Lake (+1,500 per cent)
