WATCH: Empty Welsh streets taken over by tribe of goats

Did you know a group of goats is called a ‘tribe’ or a ‘trip’? No kidding!

Neither did we. And while we were trying to figure out whether it was a herd, a flock – a congregation even – news of a tribe of the horned bovines taking over a town in Wales has spread thick and fast.

In the deserted streets of Llandudno in northern Wales, where residents are on lockdown on account of COVID-19, Manchester Evening News journalist Andrew Stuart filmed the Kashmiri goats after they came down from the Great Orme and into the town.

According to Stuart, who is holed up in a pub in Llandudno due to the lockdown, nearly a dozen goats first appeared at night on Friday, and soon returned days later.

According to multiple reports, the goats are believed to be descended from those originally given as a gift to Wales’ Lord Mostyn from Queen Victoria.

Town resident Carl Triggs was returning home after delivering personal protective equipment masks when he saw the goats.

“The goats live on the hill overlooking the town. They stay up there, very rarely venturing into the street,” he told CNN.

Another resident, Joanna Stallard, spotted the goats in her garden and said they were a regular occurrence.

Mark Richards, from Lansdowne House, said that without people or cars around, the goats “are all wandering around the streets”. He added that it at least saves him having to cut his hedges.

However, local councillor Penny Andow, who has reportedly lived in the area for 33 years, told the outlet she has never seen the goats venture from the Great Orme down into the town.

Check them out in all their majestic glory below:

If the responses to Stuart’s footage is anything to go by, this is the news that just about everyone needed (even if they didn’t know it):

“Thank you for your reporting. The goats are adorable and they really DGAF. They made my day.”

“Bloody loving this ’cause I bloody love goats!”

“This is either a Beetles song or an episode of The Twilight Zone.”

“Clearly the quarantine has put all the yoga goats out of business.”

“I, for one, welcome our new goat overlords.”

“Is this ‘herd immunity’ in action?”

It comes just days after Britain’s Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, introduced tighter restrictions around social movement, last week, in a bid to limit the spread of COVID-19.

According to the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Health, a total of 143,186 people have been tested for the novel virus, of which 25,150 were confirmed positive.

As of 5pm on 30 March 2020, of those hospitalised in the UK, 1,789 have died.
