Collette president’s good news for agents and their clients

Collette president Jaclyn Leibl-Cote has taken the time to update travel agents across the globe about its response to the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on the company.

Following the Oberammergau Passion Committee’s to defer Passion Play performances until 2022, Leibl-Cote said the wholesaler remains committed to providing guests the opportunity to see the play in two years’ time.

Collette’s president said any guest booked to attend the passion play in 2020 will be offered the following:

  • A travel voucher valued at 105 per cent of the total money received, valid for travel through the end of 2021 on a tour and date of their choosing.
  • The opportunity to transfer their current reservation to the 2022 Oberammergau departure. If a guest chooses this option, they will also receive a rebate after travel equivalent to five per cent of the gross land and air price.
  • Cashback if they choose to cancel completely.

“In the event that we cancel a tour, we will make every effort to rebook a guest or offer a voucher,” Leibl-Cote said.

“Ultimately, if a guest chooses a refund, we will respect their wishes.”

Leibl-Cote also acknowledged the tough situation agents are facing right now, and guaranteed an additional $50 per booking for money transferred to a new reservation travelling in 2020, 2021 or over Oberammergau 2022.

“When we experienced something similar to this after 9/11, we saw that the vast majority of guests who cancelled eventually rebooked through their same agent when the time was right for them, and I can assure you the time will be right again,” she said.
