Sydney is getting a free Sri Lankan food and culture festival

Want to learn more about the destination tipped by Lonely Planet as the hottest place to travel in 2019?

Well, you’re in luck, because a free festival centred around Sri Lankan culture and food is coming to Sydney!

The Sri Lanka Food & Culture Festival will be kicking off in Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour on 23 and 24 November and will showcase delicious Sri Lankan food (hello hoppers!), live entertainment and plenty of tips and tricks for selling the pearl of the Indian Ocean.

The event, which runs over Saturday and Sunday, is hosted by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and will be an authentic, alluring and mouth-watering affair, giving you the opportunity to become well-versed in the diverse beauty of Sri Lanka.

Find out what makes this destination so unique, from its Dutch and Indian influences to the huge variety of adventure, wellness and wildlife centred activities on offer – not to mention the shopping! Sri Lanka is one of the best places in the world to buy unique gemstones, intoxicating spices and, of course, the famous Ceylon Tea!

Fill your belly with delicious Sri Lankan cuisine like Kottu (made with roti and spicy curry sauce), Lamprais (rice and meat curry wrapped in banana leaves), Pol Sambol (a spicy coconut relish) and hoppers (Sri Lanka’s answer to the pancake).

You can also feast your eyes on mesmerising cultural performances and buy traditional handicrafts like elaborate wooden masks and carvings. Plus, there will be loads of holiday giveaways on offer that are not to be missed!

You’re invited to soak up all the delights of Sri Lanka and dive into the country’s unique melting pot of cultures. And did we mention it’s free? Your clients will thank you later.
