Midweek Interview with Clockwise Consulting’s Jakki Govan

It turns out the Clockwise Consulting co-founder loves long walks on the beach, and wishes she had an invisible cloak.

The challenge for the industry is…

The lack of care taken in providing really great service every time.

The things I like about my job are…

Supporting the destinations, products and venues we represent to get more business.

And the frustrations are…

Working in and amongst the time zone differences and navigating all the different public holidays across the world.

If I didn’t work in travel, I would be…

A social worker.

My favourite airline is…

Fiji Airways, now with the new A350. I just love it when they say “Bula” as soon as you board – it makes me already feel like I am in Fiji.

My proudest moment was…

Career-wise, the launch of The Star. Personally, my two eldest children graduating from university.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

Umm, just one? This is a pretty long list – I might just write a book.

I try to relax by…

Walking along the beach in all seasons.

The last time I feared for my life was…

When I was on the back of a moped in Bali.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Medication.

I really wish I had…

An invisible cloak.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

Always remain authentic.

I don’t understand why people…

Don’t ask more questions.

My greatest weakness is…

Going too fast.

And my greatest strength is…

Coming up with creative solutions.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Throw a party to thank all the people that have helped me along the way.

If I was prime minister, I would…

Dramatically change the climate change agenda.

If I could be someone else for one day, I would be…

A man.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

Russia.

My favourite holiday was…

New York for my elder daughter’s 21st birthday.
