Unruly passenger slaps cabin crew, throws up on Paris flight

Narita, Japan - June 5, 2011: A Boeing 767 registered to Delta Airlines is parked at a gate while other jets taxi in the background at Narita International Airport, an airport serving the greater Tokyo area of Japan. Narita handles the majority of international passenger traffic to and from Japan, and is also a major connecting point for air traffic between Asia and the Americas.

A Paris-bound flight was forced to divert course after a passenger began yelling, slapped a flight attendant and threw up on the aircraft.

The Delta Airlines flight took off from Indianapolis for the French Capitol at around 6pm on Thursday night when passenger Ian Robert James Morin started yelling and “acting erratically”, the Detroit News reported.

“Morin hit one of the flight attendants with an open hand to the left side of her throat near her carotid artery,” said a special agent assigned to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

“Morin continued to yell and attempted to hit the flight attendant again. During the altercation, Morin threw up on the aircraft.”

Crew members and passengers managed to restrain Morin while the flight was Diverted to Detroit where Morin was taken into custody.
