“Am I fired?!” Flight attendant spills tray of drinks on airline CEO

Young air stewardess suffering from headache on an airplane.

An American Airlines flight attendant had the misfortune of spilling a tray of drinks on her airline’s CEO last week.

But nothing could have prepared her for his reaction.

Maddie Peters, who claims she hadn’t spilled a drink in her four years of working as a flight attendant, was on a flight from Phoenix to Dallas when she was warned that American Airlines CEO Doug Parker would be onboard.

The 28-year-old told NBC News that the crew had been told to be on their best behaviour.

As she began to serve drinks in the first class cabin, a passenger in front of her stopped in the aisle and began to back up.

“He bumps into the tray and the drinks go flying,” Peters said in an Instagram post.

The drinks not only covered Peters, but half of them also landed right in the CEO’s lap.

“I WAS MORTIFIED. I wanted to drop dead right there in the aisle. (Like am I still employed?!) I’m still slightly traumatized/embarrassed,” she said.

“I asked him, ‘Am I fired?’ and he said, ‘Of course not,'” she told NBC News.

She said he was “super cool and a good sport about it”, even visiting the galley to reassure her later on in the flight.

“He later came back and we chatted for a little and joked about it the rest of the flight,” Peters said.

“When he was getting off the plane he told me he’d never forget me…. guess that’s a good thing right?”
