Virgin adds 1,000 more flights for top Christmas destinations

Virgin Australia is getting into the holiday spirit by adding an additional 1,000 flights to its holiday schedule.

Which means there are an extra 175,000 seats up for grabs to reach some of the most popular destinations this festive season.

The airline predicts the Top 10 most popular travel destinations for Australians, with sunshine and beautiful natural landscapes, a big incentive for travellers.

Virgin Australia’s Top 10 most popular travel destinations for 2018/2019 holiday period are:

  • Gold Coast
  • Hobart
  • Queenstown
  • Cairns
  • Christchurch
  • Fiji
  • Perth
  • Alice Springs
  • Vanuatu
  • Sunshine Coast

Virgin Australia General Manager, Network & Revenue Management, Russell Shaw said that team members were committed to getting as many people on their way as possible to celebrate the holidays.

“We’ve added over 1,000 flights across the school holiday period to help excited holiday-makers get to their favourite destinations and share Christmas with their loved ones.”

“At such a busy and exciting time of year, Virgin Australia is looking forward to welcoming all guests on board and providing them with an enjoyable and relaxing service to their holiday destination,” Shaw said.

Throughout the school holiday period, Virgin Australia has added over 850 domestic flights including additional flights to popular holiday destinations such as the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Tasmania.

Australians looking to travel overseas can now choose from an additional 45,000 seats to international destinations including New Zealand and Fiji.

Virgin Australia has also launched new flights between Newcastle to Auckland, running from 22 November to 17 February, and Perth to Gold Coast, running from 13 December to 26 January.
