Midweek Interview with TMS Talent’s Kimberley Rogers

Midweek Interview with TMS Talent’s Kimberley Rogers

This week, we took Kim Rogers, ANZ operations coordinator at TMS Talent, to a dance comp and made her show us her best moves. Only kidding, we just interviewed her.

The challenge for the industry is…

Showing people the career opportunities available in the travel industry.

When I started working as a travel consultant I had no idea where I could go in my career. Working in recruitment has allowed me to see the huge variety of opportunities there are and discover roles that I had never heard of.

The things I like about my job….

The people! I love the bunch of people I work with, whether it’s the team I sit with every day in Sydney or our great managers in our interstate offices. Work doesn’t have to be boring and we all like to have a bit of fun.

And the frustrations are …

Dealing with Optus.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

An athlete. Very ambitious I know, but I love playing sport and enjoy a good challenge.

Favourite airline?

Air New Zealand. I had a great experience when I flew with them and love their in-flight safety videos.

My proudest moment was…

Reaching the top of Mount Kilimanjaro when I was 21 – and persuading my Mum, who was 60 years old at the time, to do it with me.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

Bunked off school when I was 15 to miss science class. I was very unlucky though and got caught by my sister who was more than happy to dob on me.

I try to relax by…

Meeting up with friends and discovering new bars and restaurants.

The last time I feared for my life was…

On a night bus travelling from Vietnam to Cambodia.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Spiders!

I really wish I had…

Paid more attention in school.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

You can’t regret trying something and failing, but you can regret not trying.

I don’t understand why people…

Put their bags on the seats on public transport when it is packed, then they get annoyed when you want them to move the bag so you can sit down.

My greatest weakness is…

Talking too fast.

And my greatest strength is…

Organisation.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Hire a personal chef.

If I was prime minister I would…

Say things I mean, not just say what I think the public wants to hear.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a…

Richard Branson – I’d love to see how his mind works.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

Antarctica. It’s not your average destination and it would be amazing to see the landscape.

My favourite holiday was…

My first trip to Australia when I was 14.

Being from the UK, Australia was so different yet familiar. I knew then that I wanted to live here.
