Scenic Eclipse delayed again

Scenic Eclipse delayed again

The launch of Scenic’s first discovery yacht has been delayed again.

After initially being pushed back five months, to late January 2019, Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours has had to further postpone the first sailing date to April 13 2019.

Scenic is offering full refunds to those booked on the maiden voyage, and 25 per cent discounts.

The company has blamed the delay on “continuing financial issues” at the Ulanik shipyard in Pula Croatia, where the ship is being built.

“Due to the continuing financial issues at Uljanik shipyard and the resultant strike by specialist engine and systems commissioning workers, this part of the ships completion has been delayed,” Scenic said in a statement.

“Scenic has been in constant contact with the shipyard, workers representatives and the government to ensure the completion of the ship as soon as possible.

“Scenic acknowledges the regrettable impact this has on guests and understands their disappointment at this change in sailing date.

“Scenic has committed to providing guests a full refund for the cost of their Scenic Eclipse cruise and consideration of any other reasonable associated costs incurred with their travel plans.

“In addition, Scenic will provide all guests who rebook a Scenic Eclipse voyage a future cruise credit to the value of 25 per cent of the cost of their rebooked cruise.”

Featuring helicopters and a submarine for prime viewing in the Arctic and Antarctica, the game-changing ship was previously slotted in to launch in late August of this year.

For its maiden voyage, the 228-passenger Scenic Eclipse will sail from Istanbul to Venice before setting sail to The Americas; Antarctica; Europe and the Mediterranean; and the Arctic and Norwegian Fjords.

Scenic has begun reaching out to passengers and agents to provide details on the funding process.
