Midweek Interview with TravelManagers’ Ozlem Tuncay

Midweek Interview with TravelManagers’ Ozlem Tuncay

This week, Ozlem Tuncay, technical support executive for TravelManagers Australia, showed us her dance moves. Just kidding, we only interviewed her.

The challenge for the industry is…

Keeping up with changes in technology. People can sometimes be resistant to change in our industry because it feels like we’re altering their world and affecting their passion for travel, so it’s an important part of my role to ensure that our PTMs are comfortable with any changes to systems and products.

The things I like about my job…

I love travelling interstate and carrying out one-on-one training with our PTMs, because knowing they will end up with at least one thing that will make their life easier makes me feel that I have done my job well. I also love the volunteering work that TravelManagers carries out in the community.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

Running my own business overseas – maybe a lovely café somewhere by the ocean.

Favourite airline?

Emirates – I won an NRL Tipping Comp and received two tickets to Dubai!

My proudest moment was…

Being an aunt to two amazing little girls.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

There are some things that should be kept a secret!

I try to relax by…

One thing that definitely relaxes me is being at the beach.

The last time I feared for my life was…

In hospital at the age of seven, I had a bite of some cheese toast, only to be told off by the doctors because I should have been fasting for my tonsillectomy operation. My aunt and I both sat there and cried.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Driving on freeways… I hate trucks.

I really wish I had…

I really wish I had a billion dollars…

No, let’s aim higher – a trillion dollars so there will be no children left alone in this world and I could contribute to finding a cure for all illnesses.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

“Just Say No”.

I don’t understand why people…

Say no – although being an incurable YES person often gets me into trouble!

My greatest weakness is…

Saying NO – especially to CHOCOLATE and expensive shopping!!

And my greatest strength is…

Being able to take control in a medical crisis – but only if it doesn’t involve a family member.

If you need help and you’re part of my family, it’s all over – I will just faint and lie there with you.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Pay off my mortgage.

If I was prime minister I would…

Try to last a full term!

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a…

Victoria Beckham – so that I could spend a day with David Beckham.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

Lake Como – Italy.

My favourite holiday was…

All of them are my favourites, for different reasons and for the memories that each one makes.
