Extreme turbulence leaves 15 passengers bloodied

15 Passengers were injured after an Aerolineas Argentinas flight encountered some extreme turbulence.

The flight, which was travelling from Miami to Buenos Aires was carrying 192 passengers at cruising altitude when it hit a patch of particularly rough air, according to the Weather Channel.

Photos have flooded social media showing the cabin, which looks like a natural disaster zone, strewn with personal items, food and rubbish.

“Once the turbulence zone was crossed, the crew in charge of the flight was dedicated to assist the injured passengers and to relieve the general state of the 192 passengers,” Aerolineas Argentinas said in a statement.

The airline describes the injuries as ‘minor’ and said medical assistance teams were organised to meet the flight upon arrival in Buenos Aires to treat those who “suffered blows or bruises due to sudden movements” caused by the turbulence.

Only eight of the injured passengers were taken to hospital for a second check-up.
