WATCH: Royal Queen’s Guard shoves tourist at Windsor Castle

London, England - October 22, 2011: Grenadier Guard and Sentry outside of Buckingham Palace in London

Footage has emerged of a member of the Royal Queen’s Guard pushing an Asian tourist outside Windsor Castle.

Looks like somebody finally managed to make one of the statue like soldiers to break their composure.

The video shows a woman in a yellow dress standing on the wrong side of the roped off area, as a Queen’s Guard begins marching towards her. He shoves the woman out of his way, propelling her forward before continuing on with his marching without reacting.

The woman let out a scream and hastily moved out of the guard’s way.

The incident, which we’re calling shovegate, has caused some division on the internet over who was in the wrong.

The ABC reports the footage is thought to have come from Chinese social media site, Weibo or perhaps WeChat or WhatsApp.

A hashtag from the initial post has been translated to “Overstep the boundary, take a photo, get pushed by the Royal Guard.”

The ABC also reported that BBC reporter Tim Hauge posted on Weibo defending the Royal Guard.

“The cordon is there to signify that you should not overstep it, and if you do, then the Royal Guardsmen have the right to determine that you are a danger to the place that they are guarding,” he said.

“They are permitted to use guns in such a situation. Pushing would be considered the most lenient way of settling such a matter.”

The Ministry of Defence has also spoken out about the footage, saying that The Household Division is proud to guard Her Majesty and honoured that people come from around the world to watch the ceremonial spectacle, as per the Telegraph.

“The ropes are there to protect both the public and our soldiers; please stay behind them,” he said.
