Hotel Review: Grand Park City Hall, Singapore

There has been a hotel on the site of Grand Park City Hall in central Singapore for more than 20 years, now the property nearing the end of its 2-year renovation that has seen every element of the hotel upgraded and replaced.

The property has been extremely popular with Australians in the past and this looks likely to continue for years to come.

Location 9/10

Let’s face it, Singapore’s compact nature means that nothing is ever that far. From Grand Park City Hall it is possible to walk to the Esplanade, Boon Tat Street’s Satay Hawkers, the nightlife of Clarke Quay and the restaurants of Boat Quay all within 10 minutes.

Welcome 7/10

Due to the freshness of the fit-out, the first impression is excellent as guests enter the foyer and up to reception. The check-in desk was a little unstaffed at the time and would probably benefit from one more person on front desk.

Facilities 9/10

The fit out is due to complete in December 2018 and once this is done the hotel will be top notch. An integrated shopping complex with private access to the hotel is within the large-scale building.

The hotel will also boast a stunning rooftop bar and garden, outdoor gym and swimming pool. The in-house restaurant specialises in western dishes but also conjures up a series of excellent Asian dishes. Breakfast was second to none.

Room 9/10

Small but perfect and packed full of modern tech. The best of which is an integrated app that guests can download onto their smartphone and from which you can control all aspects of lighting, air conditioning, TV operations and more.

The app also makes your phone act as a key card giving access to your room. This technology has been excitedly pushed by the Singapore Tourism Board with the Grand Park City Hall being their first innovator onboard.

Overall 9/10

An excellent property with reasonable rates that is away from the hullabaloo of Singapore’s more famous hotels but close enough to everything.
