Perth flight diverted as woman threatens to kill passengers
A Virgin Australia flight was diverted overnight after a woman threatened to kill fellow passengers.
The flight took off from Melbourne at 9:30 pm and was headed for Perth when a woman began shouting “Get me off this f***ing plane, don’t f***ing come near me, I can’t breathe,” a passenger told the ABC.
Flight attendants tried to calm the woman, who began threatening to kill people if they didn’t stop the plane.
The flight diverted to Adelaide around midnight, where the woman was escorted off the plane by five federal police officers.
By the time it left Melbourne, the flight was already delayed by one hour due to poor weather, making it four hours late by the time it landed in Perth.
A passenger described the journey as a “flight from hell”.
“A four-and-a-half-hour flight looks like being a seven- to eight-hour flight,” they told the ABC.
A Virgin Australia spokeswoman said the safety of their guests was top priority.
“The aircraft has since landed in Perth this morning and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused guests.”
It comes one day after Manodh Marks was jailed for 12 years, after forcing a Malaysia Airlines flight, bound for Kuala Lumpur to turn around when he screamed he had a bomb in 2017, reposts Fairfax.
The ice-fuelled Marks threatened to blow up the plane, as he ran down the aisle of the Airbus A330, armed with two electronic devices.
The devices were later revealed to be a speaker device and a power bank.
