PSA: Today is World Macaron Day!

Guys. Today is no ordinary Thursday. Today is the best damn Thursday of the entire year.

Because it’s World Macaron Day!

What better excuse do you need to go out and spend a gazillion dollars on these beauties?

Trafalgar_Macaron-lpr1

The answer is: you don’t need one, you can treat yo’ self to these sugary babes every day if you want. But if you’ve been saving your sweet tooth for a special occasion, this is it!

To celebrate this momentous day (and in case you wanted to travel all the way to France for the best macarons in the world) we’ve got a fantabulous list from Trafalgar with their list of the best spots in France to nab yourself some macarons. And France is the home of macarons, after all.

Le Moulin de la Vierge

Trafalgar’s French Travel Director, Jonathan, is an expert in all things Paris (obviously). His favourite spot is a little under the radar but that just makes it even more worth the visit. Once you’ve had the life-changing macarons, give the cheesecake a try too! Visit this secret spot with Trafalgar’s Paris Explorer and thank us later.

Pierre Hermé

Taking leaps of faith with curious flavours is the best part of this unique macaroon snacking spot. Choose from a selection of slightly bold treats at Pierre Hermé and whether you go for the green tea, sesame seed and vanilla or olive oil flavour, you’ll be sure to enjoy it. We promise!

Ladurée

An obvious choice but we had to include the OG place for macarons. As the inventors of the macaron, they definitely know their stuff. While it’s not a ‘hidden gem’ it’s worth a visit just for the bragging rights you’ll earn from visiting this world-famous institution.

Carette

Enjoy a view of the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadéro esplanade while you snack on these incredible macarons and take a moment to revel in your inner Parisian. The rich ganache and smooth jam fillings that will truly steal the spotlight. And is there anything more Instagrammable than eating treats with the Eiffel Tower in the background?

Patisserie Aoki Sadaharu

Hailing from Japan, Sadahura Aoki is not the most obvious chef pâtissier but he creates unique flavours and delicate textures with a fusion of French and Japanese styles. These macarons are truly magic with flavours like Matcha and Yuzu. Drool.

Dalloyau

Claiming to be the first manufacturers of the modern macaron, Dalloyau use a 300-year-old recipe keeping the original crunchy and chewy meringue shell texture. And a 300-year-old recipe is something you don’t mess with.

 Lenotre

A cloud like, fluffy texture is what makes these macarons amazing plus with ‘natural’ ingredients you can feel a little less guilty dipping into a box or three. Don’t worry, they still taste just as delicious.

Elisabeth Biscarrat

Owned and managed by winner of 2011 French Masterchef, if you’re looking for a stop out of Paris to satisfy that sweet tooth this boutique dedicated to the art of macaron confectionary making is the perfect place.

Le Macaron Bleu

If you’re feeling a little exhausted after a day of macaron eating then we’ve got the perfect solution! Europe’s only drive-through macarons! Visit the amazing spot in Reims with Trafalgar’s Enchanting France and get macarons delivered straight from the head chef to you! Now that’s a true French experience.
