Virgin bans 20yo paparazzo for breaching security

Twenty year old Australian paparazzo, Jayden Seyfarth, has found his way onto Virgin Australia’s blacklist after he breached security at Sydney Airport in order to snap sneaky photos of Bachelorette Sophie Monk and her new beau.

According to the Daily Telegraph, on October 27, Monk and her last man standing, Stu Laundy, were set to fly to Melbourne for a TV interview on The Project, when Seyfarth used the self-service check-in desks to print the couple’s boarding pass.

To print domestic boarding passes, all you need is a surname and destination, which Seyfarth then used to obtain their boarding passes, access the Virgin Australia airport lounge, and wait for the couple to arrive so he could take paparazzi photos of them.

After discovering the breach, Virgin Australia issued Seyfarth with a letter informing him that he was banned indefinitely from flying with the carrier, effective from October 30.

Seyfarth took to Instagram to make public the allegations.

Per the Daily Telegraph, the airline’s Group Security team wrote, “Virgin Australia considers the safety, security and comfort of all of our guests and staff as our top priorities, and regards any incident that compromises these values as a serious matter.

“Virgin Australia reserves the right to refuse carriage of any person for any reason as per the terms and conditions listed on our website.

“As a result of your behaviour, it is our intention to exercise this right and deny you carriage on all services provided by the Virgin Australia Group of Airlines indefinitely.”

The ban has also prompted the Australian Federal Police to launch an investigation, per the Telegraph, which could land Seyfarth a maximum jail sentence of one year for attempting to travel under a false name. No confirmation, however, on if any charges have actually been laid.
