The hottest 2017 holiday destinations

The hottest 2017 holiday destinations
2017 is almost over, and it’s time to start booking that Christmas holiday you really, really need.

Luckily, Bon Voyage has found Australians are dissing all-time favourite overseas holiday destinations for five-star experiences in their own backyard.

Australia has proven to be the most popular holiday destination for Aussies across the board, beating Indonesia, the second-most popular destination, by over 50 per cent in holidays booked.

Not only do Aussies prefer to stay in their own country, but given the choice, they prefer to stay close to home in their own state. Bon Voyage customers from New South Wales booked 53 per cent more holidays in their home state than in the next most popular destination, Indonesia. The same is true for Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and Western Australia.

Jon Beros, General Manager at Bon Voyage, said the answer lies in what it means to be Australian.

“Australians love to explore, and our home offers incredible variety. Over the last few years we’ve seen a massive rise in the quality of resorts, hotels and hospitality across the nation, and our customers want to sample the best of the best. That’s why they come to us,” he said.

“Here at Bon Voyage, we are committed to providing the best in hand-picked luxury holidays at the best possible prices for all Australians.

“Although classic holidays destinations such as Bali and Thailand continue to dominate our most popular holiday list, Australia has outstripped both locations by a mile. We are continually looking at what our customers want and we plan to offer even more great holidays in Australia in 2018.” Beros added.

The top five holiday destinations in 2017 are:

  1. Australia
  2. Indonesia
  3. Thailand
  4. Vietnam
  5. Fiji

Bon Voyage also discovered that the most popular time to book a holiday was during office hours (no surprise there), and that the most popular months are December and March, with the Easter and Christmas holidays fueling holiday lust.

Plus, women tend to take control of the holiday bookings, with double the amount of women making the decision on where to holiday than men.

Jennifer Hawkins, spokeswoman for Bon Voyage, said she loves her home state of New South Wales.

“Each year I love to mix shorter staycations with a longer trip abroad, with the Maldives and Bali being among my favourite destinations. In 2018, some of the destinations on my wish list include the gorgeous Bora Bora and the islands of Fiji.”

As 2018 approaches and Aussies rush to book their holidays, Bon Voyage is releasing five of Jennifer Hawkins’ hand-picked holidays with an additional 20 per cent discount on already amazing deals of up to 70 per cent off recommended retail prices. One exclusive holiday is on offer each day from 6 to 11 November.
