Australian cruise wholesalers experience a new way to see Europe by river
Riviera Travel has hosted its first Australian travel industry famil on its European river ships as part of the company’s first foray into the booming Australian river cruise market.
Riviera Travel’s Sales Manager for Australia, Shelley Davey, based in the UK, will also visit Australia this month to host a booth at the CLIA Cruise 360 Australasia Conference in Sydney on August 25 as well as a CLIA webinar on August 30 and also meet local wholesalers and travel agents.
Joining the recent, seven-day famil on the Rhone River in France aboard Riviera Travel’s five-star river ship, Lord Byron, was a three-person team from wholesaler, Cruise Traveller, which helps distribute Riviera Travel product in Australia. The lucky trio to experience Riviera’s Burgundy, River Rhone and Provence cruise were Product Manager, Sam Patton, Business Development Manager, Karen Revelle, and Travel Consultant Madeline Bielak.
Travel Insurance Direct refreshes with a rebrand
Leading online travel insurance provider, Travel Insurance Direct, today announced a brand refresh; rebranding to TID and revealing a new look across its online platform. With a focus on targeting a younger audience, the refresh mirrors the provider’s goals of simplifying and innovating the travel insurance process for Australian travellers.

‘Treasures of the South Pacific’ continues to captivate audiences with their second round of events in Brisbane and Gold Coast
The second instalment of ‘Treasures of the South Pacific’ has just concluded with successful events held in Brisbane and Gold Coast.
The South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) hosted over 80 travel agents in Brisbane on Tuesday, 22 August 2017 and another 60 agents on Wednesday, 23 August 2017 at the Gold Coast event.
Travel agents enjoyed presentations from representatives of the tourism offices of Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Vanuatu and from hidden treasures including: Kiribati, Nauru, Marshall Islands, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Tonga, Tuvalu and American Samoa.
The series was conceived as a platform for representatives of South Pacific destinations to inform and inspire Australian travel agents about the extensive range of tourism product and experiences available within the region.

After much anticipation, Ormina Tours has announced their first Famil Tour to the Australian marketplace. Time Design’s Dynamic Package booking engine connects with Sabre’s SynXis Central Reservation System

Tempo Holidays hosted a Spanish fiesta last week for a group of very special agents. Selected agents were invited to join Tempo for a night of Spanish tapas and flamenco. Agents learnt the tips and tricks from Tempos on ground experts.

SIVB launches ‘Hapi Isles Specialist’ agents training program
The Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau has launched its first ever specialist agents’ online training program – ‘Hapi Isles Specialists’.
SIVB CEO, Josefa ‘Jo’ Tuamoto said a focus of the program was intended to equip key front like sales staff with product knowledge via a series of online modules designed to help them learn about the Solomon Islands and the nine provinces which make up the country.
This includes culture, reef and wreck diving, WWII history, sport fishing, surfing, bird watching with all modules to be expanded as more product comes online.
As part of the launch the NTO is offering agents who successfully complete all training modules by 15 October 2017 automatic entry into a draw to win one of 10 $50 pre-paid Visa cards.
