Crystal showcases point of difference

Crystal has iterated its point of difference as the luxury cruise operator with genuine multi-generation appeal.

“We are the only one in the luxury space with true multi generational accommodation. The new luxury ships are all suite accommodation,” Crystal Managing Director Karen Christensen said.

Crystal clients can choose staterooms or penthouses with luxury touches regardless of the category they’re in.

“The bread and butter is the ocean ships. We still only have two and they have been incredibly successful in a very aggressive luxury market,” Christensen added.

Crystal showcased a shore excursion that clients will experience on a cruise in Sydney, with a seaplane from Rose Bay marina to lunch at Cottage Point Inn.

“We are gracious to have won awards recently but at the end of the day it’s based on what the consumer wants,” Christensen said.

Crystal is maintaining its strong presence with the trade, and will host road shows for travel agents across Australian cities from next week.

The Crystal office opened in Australia at the start of this year, and February 17, 2018 will herald a crucial moment for the newly established brand: the two ocean ships, Symphony and Serenity will meet in Sydney harbour.

“2018 is iconic for Crystal. Guests could flip flop in Sydney to go home in the other direction,” Christensen said.

Crystal has also christened its new river cruise ship crystal Bach, just last week.

Christensen concede it was logistically harder on rivers than on oceans.

“Crystal identified that and we have coaches that travel with the vessel along the rivers so if there is an issue with the locks we will never be stranded.”
