Sydney International Airport

Receive your departure time and gate by tweeting your flight number to Sydney Airport!

Technology is making human lives a whole lot more convenient. Some call it lazy, while others call it progression, but wherever you stand, we can all agree that airports are a frenzy. If you’re travelling from Sydney, the airport has got you covered – and yes, with technology!

By tweeting the flight number to @flySYD, travellers can get information on their departure time, and gate, in 41 languages! This is bound to make airports less stressful for passengers

Business Insider reports that Irish company TIC have rolled out the “social decisioning” technology in four continents, and now debuting in Australia at Sydney airport.

Sydney Airport chief executive Kerrie Mather told Business Insider that the service will allow travellers to plan their trip before arriving at the airport.

“We’re proud to engage with our passengers through this information service, which provides access to the latest details on international and domestic flights, departure gates and boarding times at the touch of a button,” she said.

“Importantly, passengers will be able to access personalised flight information in their native language, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so they’ll receive timely and relevant information, when and where they need it.
