Safari goers staying longer

Bench Africa are noticing a change in travel habits of those travelling to Africa on safari.

According to the wholesaler, passengers used to travel to Africa for just a couple of weeks, which also included their air travel. But now, this has increased to an average of 16 days on their land safari, according to Martin Edwards, General Manager at Bench Africa.

Edwards said when someone first enquires about travelling to Africa, they are not always sure what they want to see and do.

“They just know that need to experience a safari to witness Africa’s famous Big 5 in the wild. However, once they start looking more into their trips, they realise how easy it is to combine different areas of Africa within one trip. A trip to Southern Africa may have focused purely on South Africa, but now passengers are more often than not extending to Victoria Falls and crossing over into Botswana.”

“Furthermore, if travelling to East Africa, in particular Kenya and Tanzania, passengers are extending to track mountain gorillas in Rwanda or relax on the beaches of Zanzibar,” he said.

To go with the longer-stay travel trend for 2017, Bench has released a brand new 29 Day, Highlights of Africa tour.
