Midweek Interview: Kathleen Jordan, Sales Manager NSW/ACT, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection

Midweek Interview: Kathleen Jordan, Sales Manager NSW/ACT, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection

The challenge for the industry is… Dynamic pricing and current world political situations.

The things I like about my job… Representing a beautiful brand like Uniworld is a pleasure and I truly enjoy being able to share my passion for travel with my amazing, like-minded agents and their clients.

And the frustrations are … Traffic and parking can be a bit frustrating.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… Working in a second hand book store.  A hopeless romantic hiding behind towers of classic novels and a cup of tea.

Favourite airline? Air New Zealand, their safety videos and the lollies before landing sold me.

My proudest moment was… I am proudest when I see my agents gaining confidence, and the excited emails I receive from them when they get that Uniworld booking over the line. I know how hard they work and it makes me proud to think I played a small part in helping them.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… I once had a roomate who was very afraid of spiders. My other roomates and I used to catch spiders in Chinese food containers and put them (in the container) in his room. One day I just put an empty container in his room, he was so scared that the spider had escaped and was still in his room, that he slept in the loungeroom for a week.

I try to relax by… Going to the beach with my dog, Darth. And if it’s rainy, a good book, some warm socks and a cup of tea.

The last time I feared for my life was… A wasp once flew through the air con vents in my car whilst I was on the freeway. Terrifying.

If I can, I always try to avoid… Wasps.

I really wish I had… Better eyebrows.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… Live your life in such a way, that if someone were to say a bad word against you, no one would believe it.

I don’t understand why people… Choose 5am flights.

My greatest weakness is… Good wine and empathy.

And my greatest strength is… Positivity, humour, and compassion.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… Aside from the usual boring things, looking after my family and charity, I wouldn’t mind finding out the going rate for Chris Hemsworth to be my date to the NTIA awards.

If I was prime minister I would… Legalize same sex marriage. Love is love.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be … The Dalai Lama.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… So many places! Russia & Iceland are at the top of the list at the moment.

My favourite holiday was… India. Playing cricket in the streets with local kids, the spices in the air, the food, the chaos, it was all beautiful.
