Industry Insider: Toma Burgess on working reservations for Insider Journeys

When travel agents call Insider Journeys to make a quote, booking or get some advice, chances are you may speak to Toma Burgess.

Toma is our Industry Insider this week, revealing what are the challenges and perks of the role, and what travel agents need to do more when speaking to reservations.

“I am very passionate about travel and in particular, 11 inspiring countries in Asia. I guess you could say everyone at Insider Journeys comes to work with the same passion and the same vibe, it’s the perfect atmosphere. How could you not love your job?

However it is challenging at times, I often get itchy feet! Although I love answering calls for all the lovely travel agents out there sometimes it’s hard to sit still at my desk as per my job description when I would love to be walking the streets of the city I’m selling.

I wish agents would have the confidence to book more touring,  as we are here to help, being the specialists in Asia. What do I wish travel agents would do less when calling reservations … eating on the phone (yes we hear you).

The pros of the industry, is the opportunity to experience many destinations.

The cons of the industry, are things outside my control that constantly impact travel.

So next time you give Insider Journeys a call, say hi to Toma.
