Fiji Airways top management reshuffle

Fiji Airways has confirmed the appointment of John Nickel as its new Regional General Manager Australia.

In the official announcement, the current Regional General Manager for Australia, Andrew Stanbury, moves into a new role of Executive General Manager (EGM) of Sales and Marketing taking his 20+ years of aviation experience offshore.

As EGM Sales and Marketing, Stanbury will join the executive leadership team based in Nadi. In his new role, he will lead the sales and marketing teams for all markets in which the airline has a presence, including the Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand, U.S.A., Hong Kong, and now Singapore.

Meanwhile the airline’s Commercial Manager for Australia, John Nickel, will now take on the role of Regional General Manager for this market, based in Sydney. Nickel has worked in the aviation industry for over 40 years, managing airline company operations both internationally and within the Pacific Islands region. He has held positions at World Aviation, Polynesian Airlines (later Polynesian Blue) and has trained with the IATA in Singapore, Switzerland and the U.S.A.  He joined Fiji Airways in 2007 as Sales Manager NSW/ACT.

“Both Andrew and John have played a significant role in the growth and success of the airline in recent years, and I am delighted to appoint them to their new roles as we continue to expand our international network and enhance our product and services,” Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO Andre Viljoen said.
