Globus and Cosmos amplify the Americas

Globus and Cosmos have expanded their tours in the Americas to focus on special interest and events, from festivals to craft brewery tours.

“We are creating product with different themes, so wine and beer tours and in North America special interest such as JFK’s 100th anniversary of birth,” Globus marketing manager Chris Fundell said.

Canada and North America represent the best-selling product for the tour company.

The just released Cosmos brochure has been redesigned to include larger fonts and bigger images. “The Cosmos brand is very well known. The price per day is where we focus on, for under $168 a day lead in for a Canadian Rockies tour is just amazing,” Fundell said.

For Globus, itineraries geared around events, such as the Nashville Country Music Festival and Elvis’ 40th anniversary in Graceland, match up to certain departure dates.

“We try to build out those special interest departure dates as well,” Fundell said.

New for Globus in 2017 is an Oregon’s coast, cascades and craft beers itinerary with five brewery stops between Seattle and Portland.

Why is escorted touring popular for clients travelling to America?

“It depends on the consumer – sometimes it’s a price point, the exchange rate doesn’t have too much of an influence because a lot is included. Cosmos you have more free time built into the itineraries.”

“I think the appeal of coach touring is having experts with you, local guides show you the in’s and out’s of each area and different cultures,” Fundell said.

“We include local favourites that delve into cooking schools and wine tastings that gives you a deeper understanding of the area.”

Meanwhile, the new Latin America brochure includes an 11-day Vineyards of South America itinerary as well as two Mexican itineraries created from the feedback of Australian travellers.

As for the client base, Fundell said that their clients spend a lot of time doing research.

“They know roughly what they want to do. A big challenge for us is to explain why Cosmos, Why Globus – what the points of difference are.”

Clients who book a 2017 Cosmos or Globus USA or Canada product will receive an air credit of $100 per person as well as a $100 per person second tour discount.
