World Journeys Born Free Safari 2016
World Journeys say there is still space left on an exceptional Cheli & Peacock Safari in Kenya, with Virginia McKenna of “Born Free” fame, and her son Will Travers, co-founder of the Born Free Foundation.
Guests will hear stories of filming “Born Free” and meeting Joy and George Adamson, see wonderful wildlife, visit conservation projects, and meet the Born Free lion-proof boma and de-snaring teams. Accommodation will be in the luxury of some extraordinary lodges in some of Kenya’s most stunning National Parks, including Elsa’s Kopje in Meru, Tortilis Camp in Amboseli as well as Loisaba Tented Camp.
The 12-day safari departs Nairobi 29 August 2016 and is priced from $12,755 per person (share twin), which includes a donation to Born Free’s work in Kenya.
A taste of Rajasthan luxury on two wheels
Experience the rich and vibrant region of Rajasthan with Extreme Bike Tours, the only operator offering luxury motorcycle tour through the “Land of the Kings’.
Travel in complete luxury through the stunning region, passing lavish palaces, barren deserts and lush jungles along the way atop your Royal Enfield 500cc Classic Desert Storm.
The two-week long tour (14-27 November 2016), which starts in Delhi, includes about 6 – 8 hours of riding per day with different landscapes at every turn. Along the way, guests will have the chance to ride a camel through the sand dunes of Jaisalmer in the Tharr Desert, and stop in the town of Luni to shop through ancient Bazaars on a rickshaw. Guests will also get to visit the breathtaking city of lakes, Udaipur, known as the ‘Venice of the East’.
Globus Supertour Honours Winning Agents
Thirty top-selling travel agents from across Australia and New Zealand have just returned from a spectacular adventure in Spain and Portugal thanks to Globus and its 2016 Supertour.
This year’s Supertour involved an 11-day itinerary through some of the most colourful destinations on the Iberian peninsula, including Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo, Seville, Setúbal and Lisbon.
As special surprise, the group was taken to a football game between Barcelona and RCD Espanyol, wearing personalised jerseys made especially for the agents. Barcelona won the day 5-0. The expedition was offered to 20 agents from Australia and 10 from New Zealand as a reward for their sales of Globus, Cosmos, Avalon Waterways and Monograms holidays.
The Supertour was based on the Globus Iberian Tapestry itinerary, one of dozens of tours in the Globus 2016 Europe program.
Nitmiluk Gorge opened for canoeing season
The canoeing season on Nitmiluk Gorge has officially opened as of 9 June 2016. The Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory has undertaken the annual post wet season river management program and opened the Nitmiluk Gorge system for canoeing in the second and third gorges.
“Canoeing has been opened in the second and third Gorge”, said Mr Tony Clementson, General Manager, Nitmiluk Tours. “Guests wishing to canoe will be ferried to the top of the first gorge where we have set up a canoe shed for hire and storage.”
“We believe this will in fact add to the canoe experience as without doubt the second and third gorges are the more spectacular– and quite often on a half day canoe hire, guests never get up this far. We encourage all guests who wish to part take in canoe hire to pre-book as this product is very popular and fills up very quickly,” said Mr Clementson. “The Gorge is one of the most picturesque places to canoe in Australia – guests can admire the stunning views, get up close to the wildlife, and explore the rocky escarpments from the riverbank.
