Delta leaves Helloworld

Amsterdam, Netherlands - April 21, 2015: A Delta Air Lines Airbus A330-300 with the registration N808NW takes off from Amsterdam Airport (AMS) in the Netherlands. Delta is one out of the three major American legacy carriers with its headquarters in Atlanta.

Delta has appointed The Walshe Group (TWG) as its General Sales Agent (GSA) for the Australian market effective 23 May, leaving the Helloworld owned Global Aviation Services.

The move aligns with The Walshe Group’s representation of Delta in New Zealand, which it has done for 30 years, proving they are equipped with extensive knowledge of the Delta network, products and services.

The new and consolidated representation in Australia and New Zealand brings benefits to both customers and partners in the region.

Delta’s GSA representative office will be based in Sydney and supported by additional GSA team members stationed in Melbourne and Brisbane, covering the three largest markets in Australia.  TWG’s New Zealand team will remain in Auckland. The GSA function includes reservations, ticketing, sales as well as marketing activities.

Delta’s Country manager – Australia/New Zealand, Clare Wheatley, said the newly consolidated GSA “will represent Delta very well in this important Oceania market,” adding “Delta and The Walshe Group team will work to further raise awareness of the Delta brand in the market as well as the Delta-Virgin Australia Joint Venture between Australia/New Zealand and North America, which seamlessly provides the best products and schedules between the regions.”

The Walshe Group managing director, Jacqui Walshe, commented that The Walshe Group has enjoyed a long and rewarding relationship with Delta in New Zealand and “are proud and pleased to be granted this opportunity to become their GSA in Australia.”

Delta operates a daily non-stop service between Los Angeles International Airport and Sydney International Airport with Boeing 777-200 aircraft and has a joint venture partnership with Virgin Australia to provide extensive connecting service to passengers traveling from Australia and the United States.

Customers flying in Delta One cabin enjoy full-flat beds with direct aisle access, Westin Heavenly In-Flight Bedding, the sleep and leisure suits, noise-reducing headsets and Tumi amenity kits complete with eye shades, ear plugs and striped on-board socks, among other items. Delta One customers are also treated to a culinary experience inspired by the flavors of the season and a wine program developed with wines from some of Australia’s most acclaimed vintners.
