Qantas Dubai flight diverted due to engine issue

Qantas has confirmed that flight QF 9 from Melbourne to Dubai was diverted in the early hours of this morning due to an engineering issue.

The flight departed on time last night shortly after 11pm, but two and a half hours into the flight, the captain chose to land the aircraft to Sydney due to an engineering issue.

Another aircraft is available in Sydney which will be used to get customers on their way to Dubai later this morning.

One of the engines had a slight vibration issue which was monitored by Qantas’ crew and also its operations team in Sydney.

“The aircraft landed safely and without incident at 6.45am this morning,” the airline said.

“We expect customers will be on their way to Dubai later this morning and will provide an update with a new departure time out of Sydney once that time is confirmed.”

There were 410 customers onboard.
