No limits for Rail Plus expert program

Big idea. Happy smart girl with solution lightbulb above head

For the first time, Rail Plus is opening up its Global Rail Expert program to an unlimited number of Australian agents, with this year’s top graduate set to snap up a trip to Europe with Qatar Airways.

In the past Rail Plus has strictly limited the number of travel agents admitted to the program, but in 2016 all consultants can register and then complete the course’s 10 training modules within a seven-week period.

Chief executive James Dunne predicted the decision to open the scheme to all would benefit the entire retail travel industry.

“Over the past few years the program’s renown has grown enormously, helped in no small part by the success enjoyed by past graduates,” he said.

“As a result we have seen extraordinary numbers of agents asking to take part. Now any consultant with a genuine desire to enhance their international rail knowledge can participate.”

As in previous years the modules cover a broad range of rail topics, including Eurail, European high-speed rail networks, the Swiss Travel System, Great Train Journeys and the latest products and services from VIA Rail, Rocky Mountaineer and Amtrak. In addition, a special module has been incorporated on Qatar Airways.

The highest-performing graduate – judged by number of questions answered correctly and overall time taken to complete the course – will win a Eurail Pass and a return ticket on Qatar Airways to Europe. The second and third placed graduates will also be rewarded with Coles Group and Myer gift cards valued at $750 and $250 respectively.
