Ovolo funks up Woolloomooloo Wharf
By admin

French champagne, gastronomic delights and a dragon dance all came together to launch the swanky new Ovolo Woolloomooloo last night.

The Hong Kong owners injected the city’s high-flying spirit into the launch of Sydney’s second Ovolo, which was well attended by local A-listers.

The refurbished hotel breathes new life and energy into the 100 year-old Woolloomooloo Wharf while keeping the building’s old-school character.

All 100 guest rooms and public spaces have been “reimagined with the funky and glamorous Ovolo renowned design elements,” according to the group, which collaborated with leading international design practice HASSELL.

Cityvoo Double Double HR

Ovolo Woolloomooloo’s central hub, Lo Lounge, will cater to both guests and Sydneysiders, serving a diverse food and beverage offering in line with the wharf’s fine dining restaurants.

Lo Lounge will be open 24 hours and hotel guests will be able to partake in free happy hour beverages, continental breakfast and complimentary snacks throughout the day. Ovolo has also partnered with the government initiative Artbank – in an Australian first – to display a unique collection of Australian artworks throughout the property. Complementing this is an 86kg Clock by Swedish design studio Humans Since 1982 takes centre-stage in the lobby.

“On a mission to redefine modern hospitality, Ovolo refuses to take a cookie cutter approach to their properties. From check in to check out, Ovolo guests enjoy all the comforts of intelligent effortless living. From property-wide free Wi-Fi with an unrestricted number of devices and downloads, through to easy access power outlets at your bedside, it’s the attention to all the little things that make Ovolo ahead of its time,” the group said.

Founded by Girish Jhunjhnuwala in 2002, the Ovolo Group has quickly become one of Hong Kong’s largest independent owner & operator hospitality firms and now runs five hotels and a serviced apartment in the city, and three hotels in Melbourne and Sydney.
