Agent concerns tackled by new Travellers Choice features

A new support service aims to help Travellers Choice agents tap into the all-important power of digital marketing, with the new offering just one of a number of agent-focused innovations unveiled at the Travellers Choice conference in Melbourne at the weekend.

The Digital Managed system, the latest phase of the agents progressive digital marketing strategy, will allow agents to outsource management of their websites, search engine optimisation (SEO), social media activities and database marketing. In addition, it will help with the roll out of a new corporate website.

Chief executive Christian Hunter highlighted the benefits of these new resources which he said “are not readily available” to all travel agency businesses.

“Utilising this new service will enable our members to shift their focus from driving digital traffic and enquiries to converting increased digital traffic and growing sales, which is where their time is best spent,” he said.

The company also launched its new corporate website at the conference, with the new offering designed to be “even more effective” at channelling business to its agents. The mobile-friendly site integrates location services to target content to its users, and will prominently feature social sharing tools. It will also include a new travel blog designed to boost both engagement and the site’s search engine rankings.

Meanwhile, on the people management front, the company is offering agents free access to an online human resources toolkit developed in partnership with Australian Business Consulting & Solutions. The new kit includes a range of document templates, including employment contracts, sample letters, policies and procedures all of which have been approved by lawyers.

Hunter said the new solution was created in response to member feedback on what can be an “exceptionally complex” issue.

“Members are understandably eager to know what their obligations are as employers, where they can source documentation and how they should handle certain situations,” he said.

“The HR Toolkit will ensure they have appropriate HR procedures and documentation in place, while also assisting with compliance when it comes to workplace health and safety obligations.”

Training support is also on the agenda for the group with the launch of the Travellers Choice Extranet eLearning Library (TC EXCELL) which has gathered together a range of training materials specific to travel agents from the group’s preferred partners, with agents able to access them free of charge through an online portal.

This type of material is “vital” for travel agents to “broaden their knowledge” and “stay ahead of the opposition”, Hunter said.
