Virgin Australia unveils new Perth terminal

Virgin Australia unveils new Perth terminal

Virgin Australia has provided a sneak peek of its new facilities at Australia’s newest domestic terminal in Perth which will become its home from November 22.

Situated at the western end of Terminal 1, the terminal will enable customers to transfer “seamlessly” between regional, interstate and international services in one location.

Built specifically for Virgin Australia, the terminal was designed by Australian-based international architectural practice, Woods Bagot.

Virgin Australia Group chief executive John Borghetti highlighted the new terminal as the “centrepiece” of Virgin Australia’s commitment to Western Australia.

“Perth is a city on the move, and we are pleased to be launching Virgin Australia’s new world-class Domestic Terminal on 22 November,” he said.

“Perth is now home to our flagship check-in experience and we have doubled the size of the Virgin Australia Perth Lounge.”

Borghetti was confident the new terminal, combined with the airline’s new Airbus A330 business class product would see the airline become the “number one choice” for travellers on trans-c0ntinental routes.

Perth Airport chief executive Brad Geatches described the new terminal as a “world-class” facility which stands out as the most significant project in Perth Airport’s ongoing $1 billion redevelopment.

“We are very pleased with the quality of the new T1 Domestic Terminal.  It was the most complex component of our redevelopment program, and we are delighted to welcome Virgin Australia to their new home,” he said.

“The new Terminal is a world-class facility, offering customers a high level of service including a range of quality food, beverage and retail outlets, and a premium lounge for Virgin Australia guests.”
