Heinemann unveils Sydney Airport duty free transformation

Heinemann unveils Sydney Airport duty free transformation

Returning Aussie travellers can now nurse their post-holiday blues with a bit of retail therapy, as Heinemann today unveiled its transformed and upgraded duty free space at Sydney Airport’s International terminal.

The news of Heinemann’s flagship T1 store coincides with the recent launch of phase three of the T1 improvements program, designed to deliver a world-class airport experience to Sydney Airport.

The refreshed layout includes better signage and clearer sight lines to showcase an extensive range of cosmetic brands debuting on Australian airport duty free shelves, including Urban Decay, bareMinerals and NARS.

Sydney Airport general manager of retail, Glyn Williams said he was proud to reveal this first phase of transformation.

“Today we deliver the significant first phase of a compelling and bespoke duty free design while announcing first-to-airport brands and seven customised in-store consumer areas,” he said.

The seven new customer concepts will include a premium spirits lounge, tasting bar, men’s products section, gifts section, ‘best of’ cosmetics area, children’s playground, and a regional wine space highlighting award-winners from acclaimed Australian wine regions such as the Barossa and Hunter Valleys, Margaret River and McLaren Vale.

Heinemann Asia Pacific chief executive officer, Max Heinemann said passengers could now enjoy a range of new duty free experiences.

“We’re giving passengers a world-class retail experience by drawing upon our global experience as well as our insights into the region and what makes Sydney unique,” he said.

To celebrate the launch of its largest duty free tenancy with passengers, Heinemann will offer a mix of promotions, competitions and a complimentary gift for all customers.

The launch of Heinemann’s new store happens on a backdrop of the continuation of the T1 improvements program at the International terminal, which includes the beginning of exterior work that will allow more natural light and a clearer view of the city skyline.

Heinemann and Sydney Airport’s joint development of the T1 Departures duty free has been over a year in the making.

The next phase of Heinemann’s development is scheduled to open in February 2016, unveiling more in-store concepts and design installations, an extensive fashion and accessories range including many Australian and airport firsts, a selection of gourmet food products, as well as a custom-built dining concept by Luke Mangan.

Sydney Airport’s T1 International terminal will be transformed into one of Sydney’s premier fashion destinations while offering a sophisticated international stable of food and dining selections for greater choice and value to travellers both departing, and returning home.
