The best seats in the haus
No one likes the nosebleed section at a concert, and the same goes for airline seats – you always want the best.
So we’ve rounded up the best seats in the house, or should we say haus, because you guessed it – you’ll find them on board the Lufthansa Group’s airlines: SWISS, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines.
By September, the entire fleet for the airline group will be refitted, and consistency throughout the fleet will be unmatched, not to mention consistent on every flight you book.
So to showcase a bit of what your clients can expect across the range, we’ve rounded up a visual journey of the hottest seats in the industry.
SWISS
SWISS has said hello to a new era of its long-haul aircraft fleet, welcoming the first of its nine new Boeing 777-300ERs next January.
The Boeing 777-300ER splits its 340 seats across three classes: eight in First Class, 62 in Business Class and 270 in Economy, with a fresh redesign of the cabin interior on the new SWISS flagship.
The SWISS First seat will be transformable into the occupant’s own private suite that includes a 32-inch screen, the largest in the industry. SWISS First guests will also enjoy electrically-adjustable window blinds and their own personal wardrobe.
SWISS Business travellers will enjoy seating arrangements that offer optimum privacy and freedom of movement, with the seats also easily converted into a lie-flat bed that is over two-metres long.

Lufthansa
The new Lufthansa Business Class seat transforms into an almost 2-metre-long, fully flat bed – ideal if you wish to relax during a long flight.
The open-design of the cabin, the seat configuration and the colour scheme in subtle, natural shades all help to create a feeling of spaciousness.
In Business Class we serve choice menus – recommended by top chefs – on high-quality tableware. The beverages list offers an extensive selection of drinks.
Premium Economy
Experts from Lufthansa Technik have completed the installation of Premium Economy class seats in an Airbus A340-300 with the registration D-AIGO.
All Boeing 747-8 and Airbus A380 aircraft on routes from Frankfurt already have Premium Economy on board. 15 of the Airbus A340-600 aircrafts stationed in Munich, and both A340-300 aircrafts in Dusseldorf, also feature the new seats.
Premium Economy aboard Lufthansa features luxe features such as larger seats, wider armrests, adjustable headrests, leg support, more free baggage allowance and the amenities of many Lufthansa Business Lounges, for a surcharge of 25 euros.
You can check out what one of Travel Weekly’s own thought of the Premium Economy class in this Flight Review.
Austrian Airlines
Business class aboard Austrian Airlines is one of a kind, with every benefit available, from higher free baggage allowance, full flat seat on long-haul flights, free adjacent seat on medium- & short-haul flights, and culinary highlights by DO & CO.
Each Business Class seat has its own universal socket and two USB ports for charging electronic devices.
The new high-tech seats impress with plenty of room in all directions and a completely flat and almost two-metre long bed. You can set your desired seat position at the touch of a button: Upright, Relax or Sleep, with a massage function also available.
On overnight flights, the airline offers passengers blankets or upholstery with fresh white linen on request.
Did we mention Skytrax voted Austrian Airlines’ staff best in all of Europe?
