Dr Karl hosts Uluru Astronomy Weekend

Ayers Rock Resort, in partnership with the Centre of Excellence for All-sky Astrophysics (CAASTRO), will host the second Uluru Astronomy Weekend from August 14-16 this year.

Throughout the weekend popular scientific personality Dr Karl Kruszelnicki will lead guests on a celebration of the vast outback night sky from arguably the best vantage point in the world, Australia’s Red Centre.

Designed for astronomy enthusiasts of all ages, this enlightening weekend includes an exciting program of free engaging discussions on astro-statistics and the structure of the cosmos, astro photography, hands on introductory astronomy activities for families, a satellite marketplace and more.

For the full astronomical experience, join one or more of the optional Signature Events, featuring Stellar Sounds of Silence.

Set to be an unforgettable stargazing experience, Stellar Sounds of Silence is a bush tucker inspired buffet dining experience followed by an aperitif and guided tour of the outback night sky by Dr Karl and guest astronomers.

Other Signature Events include an Astro Trivia Lunch hosted by Dr Karl and a Galaxy Star Dinner set to be a star studded event not to be missed.

“For those already familiar with the night sky, or those new to studying the cosmos, Dr Karl and guest astronomers will inspire and enlighten you over the course of the weekend,” said Voyages’ ceo Andrew Williams.

“The Uluru Astronomy Weekend coincides with the phase of the new moon providing a haven for star gazers with one of the best vantage points in the world to explore the galaxy in addition to its low humidity and minimal light pollution to view the stars and planets like never before.”

To fully appreciate all there is to see and do within Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park, there’s also the “Stay Three Nights & Save” offer. Three night packages start from $387 per person, twin share including buffet breakfast daily, free guest activities and return.

Ayers Rock Airport hotel transfers. Children 15 years and under using existing bedding stay free.
