Inside Vomo’s $12 million resort refurbishment

Vomo Island Resort has revealed its $12 million refurbishment to the Australian travel trade.

During an exclusive event last week at Anana’s Bar and Brasserie in Sydney guests enjoyed a sophisticated soirée (no name tags or speeches) with French champagne, nibbles, and service during the evening that was itself reflective of the understated elegance of the renovated property.

The refurbishment has seen $12 million spent on the famous resort with updates to its hillside and beachfront villas including a complete makeover to bathrooms and bedrooms. General manager Mark Leslie, with an enviable CV spanning luxury islands and with a Midas touch for elevating islands into award-winning categories under his management, has overseen the renovations personally.

The resort’s signature Rocks Bar received an upgrade as well with the debut of an open-air show kitchen emphasizing healthy grilled fare with international influences from Japanese Robata to Tandoori ovens, and a raw bar offering local specialties from the Pacific Rim. This adults-only culinary theatre will be open on selected evenings throughout the week for dining and each evening for sunset cocktails and complimentary canapés.

It was revealed that 80% of the guests to Vomo Resort are return guests with some returning consistently for 35 years.
